Growing up, Maybelline was all the rage, it was the hip cosmetics line that understood us and came up with revolutionary products like the ever so popular Great Lash mascara (that seems to have stood the test of time by the way). As we grew older, however, our make-up taste grew and we were soon caught in to the sophisticated world of department store beauty brands that appear to be more coveted as their price increases. Women are brainwashed to believe that we need to spend $100 for grape oil mascara shipped directly for the islands off the coast of France in order to look good... in order to feel good about ourselves. I'm not talking bad about these women, I AM one of these women... I love make up as much as the next girl with a Sephora VIB card but now that I have had the chance to get a "drug store" brand product again, I can really see if more expensive means better quality.
I received the Maybelline Fit Me foundation from Influenster months ago and it took me weeks to try it out because, in all honestly, I am very picky with my foundation and I had a brand new bottle of the one I like in my make-up train case. When I did, however, I must say I was quite impressed!
I have always heard that when trying out new beauty products, you must do it on a weekend when you have have nothing to do so, in case you break out, you don't have to go out of your house. So, on a Sunday morning, I went ahead and opened my Fit Me foundation bottle. First of all, I was very impressed with how accurate the color was for my skin (I did not have a say in the color I chose) so I think this is a testament to the "Fit Me" portion of the product. Secondly, and most importantly to me, is that this liquid foundation is more hydrating than other matte foundations so I was able to use it without primer or face lotion underneath. The foundation blended easily on my skin all the while giving a matte look and minimizing the appears of my pores.
Final Verdict: Just like every other expensive thing you want to buy and are debating over whether not to get, the real question is whether or not you can afford it. There is nothing wrong with wanting to buy expensive make-up but after trying out the Maybelline Fit Me foundation I realized that the affordable items are just as good. So, call it a Throwback Thursday or Flashback Friday but there's a reason why these brand and their tired but true products will always be around...
...Maybe she's born with it, maybe she spend a lot of money for it or maybe it's Maybelline ;)
